I Have triple plated chrome bumpers that I purchased from a local VW parts
store (inexpensive set) and they still rusted.  I dont think that they are
plated like they used to be with nickel and copper first.  I noticed that
Wolfsburg West is offering some bumpers with a "true show-quality triple chrome
plating process"  That would lead me to believe that they are of a better
quality than what is typically offered at your local VW parts store.  I need to
sit down and email them find out what makes their bumpers superior to what I
already have.
On several occasions where I opted to go the less expensive route it has ended
up costing me more in the long run.  I once purchased a set of portawalls
because I did not want to spend the money to purchase the real whitewalls from
Coker.  I went through two sets of portawalls before I decided that this was
nuts.  I purchased a set of widewhites from Coker thru Discount Tires.  The
tires were a good purchase and have not given me any problems. If given the
choice between German and parts from another country I always opt for German.
Each time that I purchased German parts I have never been disappointed with the
quality or the fit.

take care,
Greg
