Volks,

Old topic, continuing dilemma. I'm trying to get insurance for my restored
'70. I obviously want a "stated value" policy as a collectible/antique car.
I do not have an enclosed, secure garage -- only a carport in an ordinary
residential neighborhood -- not a "gated community" with security.

As a result, Hagerty's will not cover me. I had a good quotation from
American Collectors Insurance, but when I went to activate it today, they
told me that I could store my car in a carport only if I lived in a secure
"gated community." (They didn't mention that restriction before.) Sawry.
My "regular" car insuror -- and two others I contacted -- told me they could
only insure my beetle as an old car -- not with my stated replacement value
of $12,000 -- and at a daily-driver rate.

I'll ask again: Does anybody on the list have good experience with a
collector-car insuror that does not require a locked, enclosed garage? I
can't even register the car without proof of insurance.

Advice would be welcome.

Prosit!
