Glen, If you're going for authenticity, listen well to the guys on this list. Here's some supplemental information on those engines:
(1) The EC engine was an 1800cc fuel-injected engine producing 76 DIN PS, used only on Type 4 models. (2) The EA engine was a 1700 cc fuel-injected engine producing 80 DIN PS. (3) The GA engine was a 2000 cc engine that was used on the VW Model 914-4 from 1973 thru 1976. I believe that some of the 914s were marketed in the USA as Porsches, but they were just Volkswagens elsewhere. Source: Delius, Klasing & Co., "So wird's gemacht" manual. Bert Glen, A quick google search show the 74 came with either the following engine options (you need to look at the engine block) 1.8 L L-Jet (Engine Code begins with EC), Porsche engine 1.7 L D-Jet (Engine Code begins with EA) 2.0 L D-Jet (Engine Code begins with GA), Porsche engine __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5054 (20100423) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com _______________________________________________ vintagvw site list [email protected] http://lists.sjsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/vintagvw
