My wife and I are planning on doing up a 1963 beetle for her and I want to put
it on a 1970 IRS pan. I was wondering if the bolt holes will line up on this
and what problems I might encounter? I vaguely remember there being problems
with clearance around the heater boxes on a 1600DP when used on a swingaxle
body. Since I plan on doing some old farmboy body work on this beetle, what
could be done to clearance this area?

We're planning on building her a nice beetle with much powdercoating and
undercoating so that we can drive it year round without worrying about rust
from snow and salt. The things I learn from doing this restoration I'd like to
put towards future restorations. I'm just so fed up with modern vehicles so
we're planning on just keeping a few restored pans around, axle beams, and
engines and simply plan on using the beetles until the day we die. It's really
hard to find anything more simple and functional.
