Sorry for the late response, but I don't check my email daily.  I don't install 
heater boxes on my '65 Convertible, I use J-tubes. My engine is a 1600cc.  I 
remove the stock style exhaust (muffler) prior to removing the engine.  This 
allows more room between the engine and the rear apron.  You need the extra 
room so the clutch can clear the transaxle main shaft when pulling the engine.
