Hi Kirsten, We are aware of the incoming SMS alert bug. Unfortunately, iOS does not provide any direct way for 3rd party apps to determine when a text message is received. We came up with a workaround that seemed to perform well in iOS 4, but iOS 5 made some changes that "broke" our implementation. We've alerted Apple to this issue and hope that they will add this functionality to iOS. We're also still looking at possible workarounds and will keep you posted.
Just FYI, the incoming text alert should work if you have "Auto dim" set to "off" in the settings and are running vokul in the foreground.
