I have to say, I updated vokul last week and it works much better, I was using it to text several times during my long wait in the emergency room while my husband was being seen before they would let me back to give his history, much easier than trying to type more than a word or two.

We came up with a workaround that seemed to perform well in iOS 4, but iOS 5 made some changes that "broke" our implementation. We've alerted Apple to this issue and hope that they will add this functionality to iOS. We're also still looking at possible workarounds and will keep you posted. Just FYI, the incoming text alert should work if you have "Auto dim" set to "off" in the settings and are running vokul in the foreground.
