I have loaded apps, that when I have my ear phones plugged in,
automatically route the sound to the speaker any way. I wonder if this
is possible with Square Card, and if a suggestion to developer wouldn't
be a good idea for something like this. I know there is no relation,
but the apps with which I've noticed this feature, or possibly bug, are
Zello and Talking Carl.

Hi, I use the Square service to take payments for my business, however
if the card reader is used, I have to have sighted assistance to
process the card because Voice Over audio is not possible. It connects
to the headphone jack and doesn't have a bypass. This means that audio
will not work. However square will also take manually entered
payments, for a slightly higher fee, and that works well. Their fees
are less than Paypal and so this is why I use them to accept payments.

The app itself looks fairly accessible. I haven't received my free card
reader yet, but wanted to know how this app plays out in the real world.
