Hi, ah yes the signature. If the transaction is 25.00 or less, no signature is required. If it's more, then it is. However if you are taking a payment over the phone or making a manual transaction where the person isn't there for whatever reason, then you have to write down phone order or phone auth. You have to turn off voice over in order to do this and it works fine. My wife and I play with this a little where she paid me for some fake services just to see how well the manual option would work out. The minimum payment you can take is $1.

Thanks.

Thanks raul. I was considering the manual option myself. Is a signature
required and if so, how does that work out for you.

Subject: Re: Square Card Reader

Hi, I use the Square service to take payments for my business, however if
the card reader is used, I have to have sighted assistance to process the
card because Voice Over audio is not possible. It connects to the headphone
jack and doesn't have a bypass. This means that audio will not work. However
square will also take manually entered payments, for a slightly higher fee,
and that works well. Their fees are less than Paypal and so this is why I
use them to accept payments.

Anyone out there using the Square Card Reader app and device to take
credit card payments?

The app itself looks fairly accessible. I haven't received my free
card reader yet, but wanted to know how this app plays out in the real
world.
