I think one thing that would be helpful is to be notified by the app if the flash has been turned on or off, even if it is automatic.

I just launched Digit-Eyes in a totally dark room and the flash did activate. I did not realize this would occur. I suspect the situation I was dealing with may have just been at the level in which the flash is not activated. So, I will try a few tests to see at what level of lighting does the flash activate. There may even be an instance where I created a shadow, so I'm not sure. I will say again that Digit-Eyes is performing very nicely indeed. I'm sure the improved camera of the 4 and 4S as well as having the flash does help. On May 5, 2012, at 9:07 PM, Nancy M wrote: Hi Scott, that is an interesting point. We have some automatic detection logic where the software determines when it thinks there is a problem and turns the flash on (provided, of course, that it is on a device with a flash), but we don't give an option for the user of the software to make that determination and to override the logic in the program. I guess this brings up a couple of issues: a) have you had scans fail for insufficient light on a device where there is a flash? b) can you tell us a bit more about the experience and how the software could have handled it better? I'm not positive this is a topic of interest to everyone on the board; if you think it is not, I'm the person reading support this weekend, so you can send commentary to [email protected] or me personally (nmiracle at the same address) I'd love to hear more about this! I just installed the update and I certainly was one who had issues with some of the earlier versions. I can now with confidence recommend this app. In fact I find it nearly as fast as Red Laser and the information returned is great. THe only thing I would add is the ability to toggle the flash which does help when lighting conditions are not optimal.
