You are absolutely correct, Fred. I had the same issue when I installed Zello; it disturbed me so much that I removed the app and do not plan on re-installing it.
The last thing I need is something messing with my audio levels especially when I'm out and about. I checked the sound level and was told it was at 100%. I then attempted to load another sound-using app, Atbat 2012 and this seemed to have negated the problem, so for those of you using Zello, be aware.
