Richard, I'm not sure of your expectations, but I have used Pages, Numbers, and Keynote on the iPad and to some degree on the iPhone, and find these apps pretty accessible. Of course understanding the experience will be considerably different using a touch interface as opposed to a non-touch interface app. I think the greater challenge is keeping track of where you are. Now I have not spent sufficient time with these apps to really be an expert on how to address these issues, but I believe it is possible to work in a reasonably efficient way. Hopefully others will chime-in with their experiences.
