Scott, I completely agree with you. In fact, most cloud-based services that I
know of, encrypt the data in such a way that not even the employees have access
to it. If this is the case, then that is good. If for whatever reason someone
does gain access to the data, it will either be garbled, or the person won't
know what belongs to. I don't consider myself a paranoid person, but I do
consider myself a safe person. This means that I do not use the same password
for all my services. In fact, I drive my family nuts because of the kinds of
passwords I use for different things. One thing I learned at Sprint was how to
create different passwords for different services and keep remembering them
all. Then for people who don't want to have to remember different passwords for
different services, there are services like last past which can help with it,
but then we are full circle because last pass is a cloud-based service and the
argument can begin again. I have many more ideas and many more things that I do
to keep myself secure on the Internet. However not all of them are appropriate
and on-topic for this list. So as much as I would like to, I probably should
not go on. Of course if anyone is interested in knowing more about what I would
do to keep things safe on a PC, or the iPhone, you can write me privately.
