Hi Alan, What you want is technically not possible as that four digit passcode that you are made to create is in effect, the key to unlock the encrypted file that contains your fingerprints want to store them in the phone. However, I do believe that it is possible for you to make it so that the phone doesn't prompt you for this passcode each and every time your screen locks. Check out the settings under touch ID and passcode to see how to do this. Good luck and I hope this helps
