The only real slowdown I've noticed is when hitting the home key from within
an app and the home screen speaking.

There have been a few occasions when I have turned off speech and asked
someone to do something and it worked a lot better. For example, reading the
list of recently released titles in the BARD Mobile app. It is nearly
impossible to add something to the wish list and go back to the list.
Without speech, it worked with very little delay.

Subject: Re: Will Upgrading an iPhone 5 to iOS 8 Cause Sluggish
Responsiveness?

Hi,

It's going to be slower because it's a newer operating system. I
haven't used 7 on a 5 so can't really compare, but I have used one
running 8 and to me it's still usable.

Cheers,
Ben.
