Jennifer, just out of curiocity, did you close all apps and do at least a reboot or even better a reset network settings before trying the over the air update? I am just asking because on my 5S the over the air update part after the Voiceover said it was rebooting took around 10 or 12 minutes and for one of my employees who has an iPhone 6 it was exactly the same. It was also about that time upgrading my wife's iPhone 6 via iTunes so in our 3 cases it seemed not to make a difference whether you upgraded over the air or via iTunes. But while many say this reset network settings is nonsense, we did this in all 3 cases and the update went quickly and without any issues.
