How does one enter punctuation as part of the phone number?

If I understand what you're looking for, I think you want a comma to give you a 
pause between entering numbers. The more commas the longer the pause. A 
semicolon will throw up a dialogue for you to double tap on when you want to 
enter the next set of numbers.
