Hi Sieghard, hold and mute perform quite different functions. When you place a 
call on hold, you can do things like call another number, then merge the two 
calls together for a conference call, or swap between the two calls. I've put a 
call on hold for example to check my wife's availability for a proposed 
appointment when she's out.
