Thanks for pointing this out, Jonathan, I never even thought beyond wanting to make it so the other party couldn’t hear my side of the call because maybe I wanted to talk to somebody else who approached me, flush the toilet or yell at my new, naughty guide dog because he was getting into the garbage *smile*.

When you place a call on hold, you can do things like call another number, then merge the two calls together for a conference call, or swap between the two calls. I've put a call on hold for example to check my wife's availability for a proposed appointment when she's out.
