The latest iTunes that a pre-windows 7 computer can run, that will work with IOS 9.x is iTunes 12.1.3. 12.1.3 will work to back up my phone, I can still work with apps, etc, but the music portion, in relation to my phone, is useless, in that I can't transfer music to and from my computer, and it does not interface with Apple Music at all. I do not know how to tell you how to get 12.1.3, when I would check for an update within 12.1.2, it would tell me I had the latest update. 12.1.3 just showed up a few days after I had tried to install 9.0 on my phone, using iTunes. After it had almost completed the installation, it gave me a message basically saying that my phone could not be used because the installation had failed. Panic! What am I suppose to do! Luckily, after waiting a bit, the phone did come back on, but wouldn't interface with iTunes 12.1.2 at all. I will be getting a Windows 10 computer, probably within the next month, and will see what it is like to use 12.3, or whatever it is by then.

Subject: iTunes hangs during latest iOS update

Hi, all.

I'm using an iPhone 5 with Verizon. I tried updating to 9.21 tonight using iTunes version 12.1.3.6 and got a message saying the phone couldn't be updated due to an unknown error. The code given was 3014. The Apple site indicates this is one of the many codes indicating iTunes and/or the phone can't communicate with the server.

I've reconnected the phone and launched iTunes again and had the same issue. I've restarted the PC. I have verified that I have the latest version of iTunes my PC can support. I'm using an ancient PC with windows XP. Upgrading isn't an option for me, right now.

I can try doing the update over the air, but I feel more secure with iTunes.

Also, I have no issues either connecting or synching with this version of iTunes. It gets to the point of extracting the software and preparing the phone for updates and then the process hangs with that 3014 error code.

Any ideas?

TIA

Lisa
