i've not seen an option to not have the next email open when you delete the message while it is open. What I usually do is read a message, use the two finger scrub gesture to go back to the list, then go through my emails and if one doesn't interest me based on the subject, I do the single finger flick up to delete and double tap to delete that message. I find it is much faster going through emails that way. I'm sure there are other time saving tricks out there, but that is basically what I do. Richard
