Reggie,

Doing a Google search for “What are Twitter Moments”, here is what the first
search result said without even going into it:

The best of Twitter in an instant. If it happens in the world, it happens on
Twitter. Go right to the biggest stories in the world, no matter where you are.

I am sure Mark will explain more when he gets around to it, but it’s basically
a hub for accessing major stories and events happening around the world.

The tab is about the middle of the screen just above the home button. Still
working to even understand twitter so can someone explain to me how moments
works? I like what is on my screen, but how do I use it to my advantage? I
listened to Jonathan's podcast on tweetings, and I believe there was a place to
just get the name of the tweeter. Does the native app have this? There is just
so much garbage written in the tweet that my ears, well maybe my older brain?,
can't figure out what is being conveyed. I have not tried to Tweet myself yet
because I am afraid I will write it wrong:

Hello Kerri,

Yes, I am excited about Twitter Moments, also. It's one of the best features
I've ever used on iPhone. Although it's difficult to believe, Twitter is now
my favorite non-essential iOS app (smile).

While I appreciate your gracious compliment regarding my ability to get a
developer's attention, I suspect that, in this case, it was the combined
efforts of all of us who took the time to send feedback to Twitter.

To answer your question, more directly, however, I will say that I do pay close
attention to establishing and maintaining a relationship with the developers
of all of the app's that I have come to depend on. The first step in doing
this is by not only contacting them when things go wrong but also contacting
them when things go right. If an app is essential to my productivity, I always
volunteer to become a beta tester so that I can have direct access to the
development team.

Some companies, however, do not use external beta testers. In these instances,
I write up very detailed bug reports describing the problem and then submit the
reports via whatever feedback channels are available.

Kerri, time-and-time again I have seen proof that posting comments/bug reports
in the app-review area of iTunes can yield incredible results; including being
contacted by the developer.

So, when I want to get the attention of a developer for an accessibility bug I:

1.

Determine when and how the bug occurs.

2.

Write a detailed bug report describing the bug and how it impedes my ability to
use the app.

3.

Submit the report via the app-review section of iTunes.

4.

Submit the report to any additional feedback channels.

5.

Post a message to the group requesting support on the issue. Because so many
people are so busy, these days, I generally include a generic version of my bug
report and invite group members to use any or all of it in their submissions.
I also include any feedback channels in the post.

6.

Contact the developer via Twitter/Facebook, if possible. My experience is that
Twitter is more direct but that's probably because I pay more attention to
Twitter.

7.

If an when the bug is resolved, I contact the developer using all of the
methods described above, thanking them for their efforts.

8.

Update the group list on the new status of the app and invite members to offer
their thanks to the developer, as well.

Finally, Kerri, thank you for posting this particular question to the list and
know that I and others will support your efforts as, when it's all said and
done, we are all in this together.

Most Sincerely,

Mark

Mark:

I am so excited about this.

I am wondering though how you went about first getting the Twitter developers
attention to this problem, and then next convincing them to fix this.

I really wish the Snapchat app would become more accessible because Snapchat is
becoming hugely popular and is now being used for communication purposes.

Did the Twitter developers just pay attention to the review you posted of
their app in the ITunes app store?

Did you take any other steps to alert them or anything?

I am asking all of this because I want to try to do a similar thing with
Snapchat and get them to make Snapchat accessible.

I am so excited about moments though!!! I can finally now really clean out my
Twitter follow list and now I can follow top stories without having to follow
tons of people!!

Thanks so much Mark!!

Kerri

Hello Everyone,

I am so delighted to let you know that, as of today's update, the

iOS native Twitter app now supports Twitter Moments via VoiceOver.

To begin enjoying this extremely exciting new feature of Twitter, on

your iOS device:

1.

Update to the latest version of Twitter.

2.

Select the Moments tab located on the bottom row of the display.

Be certain to explore the entire screen as the Moments area has a

slightly different layout than the rest of the Twitter app.

Also, I am happy to report that every aspect of Moments is

accessible via the app's soft-buttons and by specific VoiceOver

gestures including the 3-finger swipe left, to move through a

specific thread, and the single-finger hold, and swipe up gesture,

in order to quickly close a thread and be returned to the main app.

Also, Moments video playback works flawlessly. Just remember that

in order to hear the video, you must unmute the sound via a

soft-button located near the upper left corner of the display.

Give yourself plenty of time to explore this new quick and easy way

to stay up-to-date on what's happening around the world.

Finally, please join me in thanking the developers of Twitter for

making Moments VoiceOver accessible by sending a tweet to either

@support or @twitter, or by sending an email to [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]>

or by posting a comment in the app-review area of iTunes.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Mark
