I highly recommend KNFB Reader, with the following caveat. I, too, have had
poor results holding my phone myself. But I always thought the problem to
be me, not the app, being that I knew others who could get it to work free
hand. So, I bought the Scanjig, and it made KNFB Reader come alive, as it
were, for me. It usually gets results that are at least as good,
oftentimes better, than my many times more expensive Openbook software.

Of coarse all of this is just my opinion from all of the experience I
have had with the app.
