Nobody who has an iPad has confirmed whether the screen is like on
the iPhone if you hold it in portrait mode. When I used my Mom's iPad

Can somebody either confirm this or tell me I'm full of it? *smile*

I totaly understand.
But like we can change other settings, in the accessability section.
I don't think, it would have hurt them, to give us that choice.
But no worries, that's the way it is.
cheers,
Dave.

Apple did it that way because they had enough room to do it that way,
and it makes a lot of sense for sighted people. There is all that
real estate there. Why just have all that vacant space and just a little
bit of info?
It makes no sense from AUI point especially if you can see.

hi Jennie,
yes, that is what i meant.
I thought sieghard, was saying, that this could be done.
I wish it could be, as i can't stand the screen being in two halfs.
it still confuses me, even after having the iPad mini second gen,
for nearly
2 years.
I am not quite sure, why apple did it this way.
But thank you, for letting me know.
I think, that i will just stick with iPhones, in the future.
Take care,
Dave.

I really don't think you can make it so it isn't split screen. Like
in settings, the main group is on the left, and the sub group is on
the right.
I don't think you can change this. Is that what you mean?

Hi Sieghard,
I have the iPad mini second generation, and i have it set to
portrait mode.
I can't find any button, that will stop it, going into split screen.
looked all over settings, to no avail.
Would you know, where i find this button?
Dave.

Subject: RE: Questions regarding the iPad mini
Hi Terri,
Yes, the iPad Mini is Apple's newest iPad Mini, it was first
available for purchase on September 9, 2015. However, while it came
preinstalled with iOS
9 just like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus which were also released last
September, the iPad Mini only has an A8 processor and not the A9 of
the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. That is Apple's second generation 64 Bit
processor and I don't think for your purposes this will make a
noticeable difference.
Compared to buying an iPod fifth Gen I think you made a good
decision as the iPad Mini will probably serve you better as a
secondary device to use at home. The nice thing is that Apple made
the iPad Mini 4 lighter and thinner than the previous generations,
it is only 6.1mm thick which I believe is the same thickness as an
iPod Touch.
The iPad Mini 4 also has an upgraded 8 Megapixel rear and 1.2
Megapixel front camera for selfis and video calls.
As Ed pointed out, if you want it to behave more like your phone,
you can turn off split view which splits the screen into two areas
for some apps like Mail. I think, however, that if you use the iPad
Mini in portrait mode it is like the iPhone anyways.
As for buttons it basically has just what your iPhone has: a home
button with Touch Id, volume up and down buttons, the power/sleep
button and a little flip switch like the one on the iPhone except
on the iPad it isn't used for muting your iPad, but it can be set
up to lock in your orientation in either portrait or landscape mode.
All in all iOS 9 on an iPad will be very much like iOS 9 on your
iPhone, but as Ray pointed out, due to the larger screen your
gestures may have to be a big bigger although this is much more the
case with a full-size 9.7 inch iPad and I don't even want to guess
how it would be on the large iPad Pro.
I would just search Amazon for "iPad Mini keyboard cases" and see
what comes up.
Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Questions regarding the iPad mini
Hello everybody,
Today I ordered an iPad mini from AT&T. I was able to get a
promotion on it, and it was a great deal for me. I'm very excited
about this!
However, I have never had an iPad of any sort. How do they work?
Are they somehow different from an iPod?
What sorts of things can you do with them, that you cannot do with
the iPod?
I got done I pad mini for. The lady said that this was the latest
generation. I hope he is correct about that. I was able to get the
64 gig model, and this really made me happy. Plus, I got it in silver.
Not like that really mattered. But I wanted to be a little different.
They had gold.
But I thought that was a bit much! Will I be able to turn on voice
over by myself?
If so, how would I go about doing this?
Wooden buttons are on the iPad mini?
Also, is there a case I can get for the iPad mini, that comes with
a combination keyboard?
Or is this product too small for that?
Any help, or suggestions, would be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
Terri
