With the elimination of the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and its implications for those of us who listen and charge via wires, I'm looking for comments on wireless charging. I understand that how this is ultimately implemented by Apple is speculation but I'm curious at what others think.
My understanding that wireless charging in the Android world with the Samsung devices requires use of a charging pad. If that is correct, it seems to me that such a configuration requires hauling around more than a AC adapter plug and a lightning cable as I currently do when traveling in order to charge my iPhone. Is my understanding correct regarding what is currently existing in the wireless charging world? Do those who keep beating the wireless charging drum expect that Apple will come out with an iDevice that has wireless charging built in by tapping a button or flipping a switch? This seems unlikely to me and having to carry around a charging pad or however Apple implements this seems more inconvenient than carrying around a small lightning cable and charging adapter as I currently do. As I said at the beginning, I know this is speculation and that I know very little about it which is why I'm seeking comments from those on the list who know much more about this topic than I.
