David,

With the iPhone 7, there is only one port, the Lightning port, and it
has an opening that matches up exactly to this little port. It can be
covered by a hinged door but I don't close it because it is a little
tricky to open it again. It can be sealed completely to prevent dust,
dirt, and sand from entering the iPhone from the port. I am not on
construction zones for example so sealing it tightly closed is not
important to me. To be clear, Griffin's rugged line of cases is
called survivor. The Summit is the one I use. It is their latest
design.
