The iPhone 7 is completely dust proof anyways and for all intents and purposes
it is waterproof.
My 6S Plus was recently replaced on warranty and I decided to add a glass
screen protector not so much because I think it is necessary but mostly because
I thought that this is now again a new phone and most likely I may want to sell
it next fall and get the 10th anniversary iPhone. Therefore I decided to add
the screen protector since I can take it off before I sell it and hopefully
this will leave me with a screen completely free of any scratches. I use a very
minimal Evutech case which covers the back, sides, top and bottom, it has
enough of a lip so if the iPhone falls face down the screen doesn't touch the
floor unless of course it falls on rocks or similar uneven ground. The volume
and power buttons are covered, but the ports are open. I simply don't care for
covered ports, I always want to plug in a headset and take it off again and
having to fiddle with a little door that covers the port is just not my thing.

Regards,
Sieghard

Defender

David,

With the iPhone 7, there is only one port, the Lightning port, and it has an
opening that matches up exactly to this little port. It can be covered by a
hinged door but I don't close it because it is a little tricky to open it
again. It can be sealed completely to prevent dust, dirt, and sand from
entering the iPhone from the port. I am not on construction zones for example
so sealing it tightly closed is not important to me. To be clear, Griffin's
rugged line of cases is called survivor. The Summit is the one I use. It is
their latest design.
