thanks guys! I forgot about the reboot where you hold the home button and power button at the same time. the phone has already been rebooted the usual way a couple times and the problem is still there. I’ll try the hard reboot and see how it goes. If that doesn’t work, we do have an apple store close-unfortunately, it’s in the big mall-which we try and avoid this time of year!
