Donna! repeatedly changing the rotor from characters to words and back again
sounds worse than
guessing if that word was dam or dan, was that letter b or v.
Having said that, can I alter the rotor settings while in iAssociate, or do I
have to go to settings
and all that jazz?
If I have made an error in my hearing of a letter, I become aware of it pretty
quickly.
If the answer is a very long word, or a series or words, to save myself a bit
of typing, I will
dictate my answer and, it is, very, rare for Samantha to mishear what I have
said, but occasionally,
when she does, it can be quite amusing.
For instance, one answer that I was entering, recently, was "banana split" but
what Samantha heard
was "I wanna split". I said: "not now: perhaps later!"

I don't have any quibble with voice-over saying street when she sees s t or
company when she sees c
o, but when I dictate blood pressure or horse power, that is what she should
enter, not b p or h p.
I wonder how voice over and her/his pal Siri work? Is there a crowd of tiny
flat people all
squeezed up in my iPhone. There must be! There can't be any other explanation!

Think of the iPhone rotor as the oven temperature knob on your stove. If you
want your oven set to
350 to cook a cassorole & the cooking instructions say cook the cassorole at
275 for the last 15
minutes of cooking. You would adjust the oven temperature knob as needed when
needed.

The same concept when using the rotor on your iPhone or other iDevice. When
playing iAssociates you
can read each clue by character, word or line. And you can switch between each
rotor setting as
needed. The way you know which is chosen when changing the rotor; the when
voiceover says words this
is how voiceover will read items on the screen to you, word by word, when you
flick up & down. When
you turn the rotor & voiceover says characters. When you flick voiceover will
read what is on the
screen character by character.

I hope this makes sense & is helpful in aiding you in playing iAssociates more
productively.
