Hi Sieghard. The sales rep from apple stated that they send them to be cleaned after every use. I chose to believe this... I haven't died yet. LOL
I heard about not being able to switch on the fly but as I don't have an apple watch this wasn't a deal breaker. The volume control will take some getting used to... but that wasn't a dealbreaker for me.
