Hey Mark,

Ah, that make sense now. A misunderstanding on my part about the mention of the
phasing out comment. Sorry about that but it was also good news that I didn't
have to worry about this going away! ;)

As for the new interface that Google have seem to have been doing in the past
year across several services that they provide such as the Google Voice. Yes,
the web interface is terrible and not for the faint of heart for sure. Even
though and I'm glad to see that they still offer the Classical view. There
still were some issues in the Classical as well. Not nearly as much that we see
today.

Yes, the Google Voice and the Google Hangout for the iOS is incredibly
accessible. Much more so in their recent releases. It is more streamlined and
easier to navigate than the older versions. I do have the Google Voice and
Google Hangout linked together. Primarily because I can make wi-fi call with my
Hangout through my Google Voice number. Rather than it just simply transferring
and forwarding your phone to the number. So, I am only using data than cell
when on the wi-fi. I also use Hangout because I still have friends on the
Android that use the Hangout when we do video calling. There is various reason
to link the two apps together.

One more thing to add about the Google Voice and the Google Hangout for the
iOS. I will admit I have no idea if the setup has been made more accessible. In
the past, it was not accessible at all. However, I can say once you have a
sighted friend to help you create an account and get you a number that it is
very accessible to use. I really have no way of testing this unless I go
through the entire process for another number.

Thanks,
Thomas

Hello Thomas,

So, are you saying that both the iOS versions of both the official Google Voice
and Hangouts apps are, indeed, VoiceOver accessible? Interesting.

Also, do you use both the apps? If so, in what way do they differ?

As for Google phasing out the classic view/use of Google Voice: I am the one
who posted this to the list.

Without going into great detail, my Google Voice account has been updated to
the latest web UI, no doubt because I updated to the latest version of Google
Voice on my Android phone.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this update has greatly changed some basic
features now available in the web UI. Because I use the web version of GV on a
daily basis, I was extremely frustrated in the dramatic change and, as a
result, contacted Google as well as reading seemingly endless amounts of white
papers that Google has posted to the web regarding the latest changes to Google
Voice. Somewhere, and I cannot recall the location, they clearly stated that
they were phasing out the classic Google Voice UI in favor of a more, modern,
consistent user experience reflecting, or attempting to more precisely reflect,
the Android experience across multiple platforms.

I did not write that they were phasing out Google Voice, as a service, but
merely the classic web interface.

Mark

As of the last version of the Google Voice app for the iOS. It is very
accessible to use. So, I am a bit confused why a person has mentioned it was
not very accessible to use. I am curious in what you have seen that is not
accessible?

Yes, I also use Hangout in conjunction with Google Voice. They work together
great as mentioned in the last comment. Placing a phone call from Hang Out is
easy and I also receive text message via Hangout as well.

Somebody mentioned that Google Voice was being phased out? I had not heard
about this and would like to know more about this as I use Google Voice quite a
bit. That would be a real shame if that is true. I thought I heard that it was
the other way around. For some reason, I thought I heard that Hangout was being
phased out and that they have stop 3rd party of being able to use the Hangout
API's. They were going with a new direction. So, any information about Google
Voice being phased out would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Thomas
