Dan, thanks for the idea, but I must be toast because that did nothing, too. I can tell that power is getting to the phone because I can feel warmth around the camera area, but nothing happened either with ITunes open or closed. Someone with vision is just a half hour away, so hopefully there is some simple fix right there on the screen. I will certainly pass on anything I find out. Thanks again! E

Hello, Give this a try. With the phone not connected to a power source, do the following. Hold down the home button and plug your phone into your computer. That is, a computer that has iTunes on it. This should cause the phone to go into forced recovery mode and your screen reader on the computer should tell you so. If this works, just follow the prompts to reinstall the software and restore your phone. Of course, if this doesn't work, certainly call Apple. HTH. I have been Googling and can't find anything yet. It is amazing, since so many seem to have an answer for everything, or several, many answers for the same thing. I guess the expertise is saying something, not answering questions. :) I appreciate the support. Eric, it took mine about 15 minutes at least. I didn't time it exactly. Les On Sep 19, 2012, at 3:03 PM, Eric SS <[email protected]> wrote: Well, in my case, several minutes has been 75. If people could define "several minutes", "a little while", "just a few", it might be more helpful for those of us who think we are stuck. I am now two hours into things and nothing happens no matter what I try. I know the phone is getting power because it is warm when attached to the wall cord. Otherwise, nothing. Not with headphones, nothing when attached to the PC, tried triple clicking home button, etc. So, I guess I have waited just a little while. If there are any suggestions, it will be most appreciated -- short of take it to the Apple store... It will. It takes several minutes for speech to come on. Just be patient and it will come back. It reached 96% again and sat for quite some time, but I noticed it now said installation was in progress. About 30 minutes since then, there has been nothing; no speech, no sounds, cannot activate speech with the triple home click, cannot turn the phone off or on; dead. I began just after 1:00 PM Eastern. I think I am dead until someone can eye it in a few hours. Damn! Never had a problem updating before, although there have not been so many opportunities. Any suggestions will be appreciated! Eric -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VIPhone" Google Group.
