Yes, Mark, I found that all, just not where I expected to see it. I went into
Setting the other day to find out how to turn off the automatic spelling
suggestions and finally found something called "predictive that I believe was
in General Settings under keyboard..." I turned that off cause it slows the
process of writing and editing down much more than it is useful. I probably
should refrain from asking a question when it first pops into my head because I
usually find the answer myself very shortly after asking the question.
Now what I do not understand is what I've seen regarding something referred to
as "home lock screen." While reading about different ways to save battery life
over a period of days and years, it was mentioned on several forums that this
was a battery hog. I have no clue what it is referring to. It really can't be
about not locking your home screen can it? In Settings it says to save battery
life use auto lock and close apps.
The Apple.com web site for getting help is a nuisance because you have
to scroll through all kinds of things when all I want is a search result that
will bring me to a definition. On many of the forums you also have to hit on
links to get a reply to a question. My hands are already stressed
occupationally and additional gestures on the phone aggravates the carpal
tunnel as well. I can't win. I'll have to go back and find the mnost recent
user guide on IOS. I suppose if I kept up on podcasts devoted to voice over and
IOS, all this basic stuff would or should come up.

Hello Deidre,
In the latest version of iOS, VoiceOver no longer states that the screen is
being locked. Now, there is only a tone/chime indicating this.
The amount of time that the screen remains unlock can be configured in the
display area of Settings.
