Thanks Janet! so far, I have been able to work out the connections, and some
of them are very
clever. However, the developers should stick to things that they know
something about, and I speak
of "rugby player: 10 letters. The solution being "dropkicker".
In American football, there may be a designated dropkick kicker, but there
isn't such a person in
Rugby.
Forewarned is forearmed as the old wiseacres have it, so take this as a
forewarning chaps! rugby
chat coming up.
The hefty brigade: 8 forwardss who form the * scrum take their positional
names from where they
play in it. In the front row, there is the hooker, and 2 props, the tighthead
and loosehead.
The second row consists of 2 locks and 2 flankers, and the number 8 takes his
place at the back of
the scrum with his head sandwiched between the backsides of the 2 locks. It is
he who, generally,
but not always, picks up the ball as it is hooked and then heeled back. .
We than have 7 backs, who, on the New Zealand rugby paddock, still carry
fractional names; why, I
know not, although I think that, as a child, I asked my dad why they were
called such but I can't
remember just what his reply was.
The backs are: the wingers: left and right, [the great Jonah Lomu played on
the wing, left or
right I can't recall, but the number on the jersey of that position is 11, so
Jonah had his eyebrows
shaved to form that number], the halfback who, amongst his other jobs, puts the
ball into the scrum,
1st and 2nd 5 8ths [one of our great goal kickers was Dan Carter who was a 5
8ths]2 centre 3
quarters and a fullback, who is generally, but not always the goal kicker,
but he is not a *
dropkicker.
Having said that 7 Little Words should stick to something it knows about, I
found, in my cursory
search of Google and Wiki, that, even there, their entries are, woefully, out
of date and lacking in
accuracy. For instance, it has the scrum formation as the second row
consisting of the 2 locks
while the flankers have dropped back to join the #8.
This formation of 3/2/3 may have been the early formation, but it has been
3/4/1 for many years now.
I await the first day when guy or guyess, who were, the day before 1st and 2nd
5 8ths come on to the
paddock as 1st/2nd .725, and the 3 quarters as 1st/2nd .75.
New Zealand, as well as holding the America's Cup and other sundry world
championships, are also,
both genders, All Blacks and Black Ferns, world champions in Rugby.
And now, getting back to "Seven Little Words": I signed up for unlimitted
hints, and this worked
well while I was playing the 25 games of the sunrise series, and "Last 30
days", but now that I have
finished all of those and have purchased games from Jan 1st/June 30 2012, it
doesn't! I can get
"whole solutions", but when I select 1st tile, all I get is a
knock--knock--knock sound.

having played all the puzzles back to August 1st, I have paid 5$99 to buy

There was 1 clue for June 1st I think where I couldn't see the connection:
sounds a bit like
iAssociate doesn't it!? and that was "scissor lift maker" 5 letters and the
solution was genie!
Does the connection between a genie and a maker of a machine whose job it is
to lift scissors jump
out at any of you?
