Hello Ed,

As far as I am aware, what you are describing is a function of the proximity
sensor located near the earpiece of the phone.

Unless one is using an ill-fitting case that disrupts the proximity sensor
functionality, what you describe will always occur.

For the record, I have seen many, many cases that interfere with the correct
functioning of the proximity sensor. Usually, these are the cases that one can
purchase from Amazon for under $4 or the ones that are sold in shopping mall
kiosks.

The best way to test to see if the proximity sensor is working is to remove any
case and make a call.

Mark

Subject: How to turn speaker on when holding phone away from face.

Hi Group,
When I receive a call I can hold my iPhone 6s plus away from my face and hold
the phone flat and the caller will come out of the speaker. Then I can put it
back up to my ear and it will automatically come out the hear piece speaker. So
my question is how or where do you turn this feature on to have it do that. I
have a person that want to turn this feature on . I cannot find it in settings
as I must not be looking in the correct place. Anyone have any idea’s as to
where I turn this on at?
Mr. Ed
