Ask someone who does have a working Uber account to contact help and ask the
question on your behalf. Perhaps you should be there so that you can follow
instructions.

This might help. In my experience, attempting to use Uber email support never
resulted in a reply. For me, it was getting Uber to accept a fully valid debit
card. I finally reverted to using PayPal and paying the small additional fee
for doing so.

There's one option you might try. Get a new, free email address from Gmail or
another free provider. Start all over and see if you can register that way. If
you have reasons to keep using the Uber app, this might get you where you need
to be. I understand just switching to Lyft may not be a solution.

I've never extracted myself from the kind of situation you're describing
without creating a new email address. Well, actually, I did, only once, but it
took sighted help with another app that was presenting a message that wasn't
displayed with VoiceOver.

Good luck.

Subject: Trouble With Uber App

Hi all,
About a week ago I replaced my iPhone 7 with an identical phone because the
battery had swollen and caused the screen to raise up and separate from the
phone’s body. Apple kindly replaced the phone at no charge. We backed up the
old phone to iCloud, then after getting the new phone up and running, we
restored from the iCloud backup. So far, most everything’s working fine, but my
Uber app’s a mess.
When I launched Uber two days ago, it behaved as if I was a brand-new user. It
asked for my mobile phone number, had me punch in a 4-digit access code, then
enter a password, which I had long forgotten since I first started using Uber
nearly seven years ago. Naturally I clicked the “forgot password” link, then I
was prompted for my e-mail address. The app than said that my e-mail address
was not associated with my mobile number. Now, mind you, I’ve had the same
e-mail address for the last ten years and I’m sure I used that address when I
signed up for Uber. So I tried a new approach, trying to sign in through
Facebook and Uber apparently recognized me then or at least appeared to, and I
was able to do a password reset, but every time I try to enter the new password
the app tells me it’s incorrect when I know darn good and well I’ve entered it
correctly. I’ve now done two password resets and I’m still having trouble. I’ve
restarted the phone a couple of times, uninstalled and reinstalled the app
twice and still no joy. Of course there’s no phone support number, which annoys
me no end. I’m about to just say screw it and switch over to using Lyft. This
thing’s got me flummoxed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
