You don’t have to run it up the edge, in fact, I believe you are supposed to run it up the middle of the phone.

Ran the DFU update again with the Apple Accessibility folks. We finally got it restored. I have to say, I hate this phone! I know your supposed to run one finger up the edge to go home but it only works part of the time fore me. Even dad who is sighted misses the home button. He says there are too many gestures.
