Hello anouk, You know, you just reminded me of something.
I suspect that one reason why I've had such good results with my Braille display is because I always, always, always wash my hands thoroughly, paying particular attention to the tips of my fingers, before touching the display. I frequently wipe down the display with a damp cloth, as well. Further, I always keep the surface of the display covered, when not in use. I don't know about the newer models but the model that I have has a maintenance mode in which you can have all of the pins raised, simultaneously, for easy cleaning.
