You can leave cellular data on and it will only kick on if you've got it set to only be used when Wi-Fi goes out. Problem is if you have spotty Wi-Fi in your home then it's going to kick on and less you go into settings and check off all the things you do not want it to use. Anyway it's not too complicated but you may not be familiar with those settings. So again if you have limited data it could be a problem if the Wi-Fi in your home goes out and you have limited data and you start to go over your limit without realizing that. As one other Lister said, you will be notified if you're reaching your limit, but you need to be up on checking those notifications or noticing them at any rate. That's good, noticing notifications!
