The downside with Nearby Explorer is how NavTeq creates pedestrian routs in big cities. Seeing Eye GPS had this same issue before it switched to Google Maps. Navteq makes complicated routes with many turns, likely maximizing the fewest number of steps in a route. By contrast, Apple Maps or Google Maps creates simplified and streamlined routes that are easy to understand and follow. If someone wants to test this, try going to a location between one mile and 1.5 miles away that is at a 45 degree angle from your current location.
