Keep in mind that none of these apps will alert you to road closures, roador sidewalk construction, etc. Also they will not let you know whether ornot a street has sidewalks. They do give you the option of creating eithera pedestrian or vehicle route.

I'm in Honolulu, and at this point only need a map for Hawaii.

I walk and take the bus, so need the ability to plan and explore
routes in detail. I need the ability to save routes and preview saved
routes before I attempt them.

I need something that can handle turn-by-turn complicated pedestrian
routes because there is major roadwork being done where I live. There
are also no sidewalks in my part of the neighborhood. I'd also like
something that gives accurate feedback re POIs.

I have them all, but I prefer Nearby explorer from APH. For one thing, the

maps are downloaded to your device, so you can still use it even if youloseinternet connectivity. The screens are configurable, so you can displayonlythe kinds of info that you need. For a one time payment of $79, I thinkit

is well worth the money, and at least so far, APH has not charged for

updates. Also, there is an Email list where you can get good support andAPH

staff monitor and participate on the list.

Now that my iPhone is being put to full use, I'm considering getting a
GPS app--not sure what the proper name is for it; I had a Trekker till
2010.

What are y'all using? Why did you choose that particular app over its
competition Does it need a data plan to function outside the reach of
WiFi (newbie's still getting used to the difference between iPhone and
iPodTouch.)?
