Hi Craig,

I am pretty sure the iPhone SE will definitely still get iOS 13 next fall and
it’s possible it may even still get iOS 14 in 2020. I am in the same boat with
my 6S Plus, the 6S/6S Plus and iPhone SE all were released with iOS 9 in 2015.
In the past Apple supported their devices with 5 versions I think, so that
would be iOS 9, 10, 11, 12 this year and 13 next year.
However, this year they broke this rule by giving iOS 12 to the iPhone 5S which
was released in 2013 with iOS 7, if this 5-year rule applied the 5S would have
started with iOS 7, received iOS 8, 9, 10 and 11 would have been the end last
fall, but Apple already said in their June keynote that the 5S would get iOS
12. Maybe that is because iOS 12 is more of a bug fixing and efficiency version
rather than a new features version, but then again as iOS matures
groundbreaking new features will be less frequent just as groundbreaking new
hardware designs and features will be less frequent so maybe most devices going
forward will support 5 additional iOS versions in addition to the one they were
released with.
Anyhow, for me it would be fairly logical that at least in the fall of 2020
when iOS 13 will be replaced by iOS 14 that I would then upgrade my 6S Plus to
whatever phone is fairly at the top of the list then. This would mean I have
had my 6S Plus for 5 years and I think I would be quite satisfied with that if
it continues to work for another 2 years and who knows, if apple comes out with
something pretty cool next fall I might upgrade already then.

Regards,
Sieghard

Good call, Kelly. The fact that Apple has discontinued the SE doesn't ruffle
me very much, provided, of course, that at least one iOs series to come will
work on it. As they say, que sera sera.

I wonder what the apple stores will do with the SE phones that are left in
their inventory? Do they sell them or send them back to Apple's headquarters.
