Dear Keith & List:
AppleCare Plus provides extended warranty on your device for one year. I have
found it covers all perils, including sheer stupidity on my part! There is a
small co-pay for repairs or device replacement. It also provides telephone
support for two years on the device.

If you use any of the accessibility provisions of IOS, such as voiceover,
magnifier, larger text, hearing aids, you may use Apple Accessibility Answer
Desk (877) 204-3930. Unlike regular Apple Support, they do not ask if the unit
has AppleCare Plus on it. If you only want AppleCare for telephone support, you
do not need it if you use an Accessibility feature and call Apple accessibility
support. If you want the hardware damage theft & loss coverage, AppleCare Plus
is for you.

Check also with your home insurance company to see what they provide for
IPhone, IPad, I watch etc. coverage for damage, loss or theft, and the
deductible if any. They may be cheaper than AppleCare Plus, but I found my
Underwriter, TD Melosh Insurance was more expensive.

The handset insurance from your Cellular Carrier only says they must provide a
same model phone in good working order, it could be a trade-in, not new! There
is a co-pay and for a smartphone it is generally higher than a dumb phone. Ask
what their coverage costs & what it pays,, and are there any exclusions, such
as you dropping your device into the Mississippi or Allegheny River while
walking across the Memphis Bridge which connects Memphis TN to West Memphis, AR.

Subject: To AppleCare or not....that is the question

Hi,

I have always routinely purchased AppleCare, but have never really had any
reason to use it.

I still have a few weeks before the deadline for purchasing AppleCare for my XS.

I’m curious how others on this list are viewing AppleCare.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Best, Keith
