Has anyone used one of these aids? They are very cheap: only 30$NZ [21$US].
They have a 4.5 rating if the feedback is to be believed.
They are made, specifically: or that is how I read it: for amplifying speech.
As it is rare: well, relatively so: for me to speak to someone person to
person/face to face: I do not want to spend a lot of money, which I have done
in the past, and I still have to keep asking for my companion to repeat what
he/she has said: a constant request which must put a strain on his/her
patience.
Remarkedly from time to time, I can, clearly, hear very very tiny sounds and on
my left side too which is my, particularly, bad side. I will give you an
example. A few nights ago, I opened the backdoor and spoke to Guideon, my dog.
He was about 5 feet to my left which is my bad side for hearing, but I,
actually, heard him move a paw and one claw made the faintest click on the
concrete!!!
It was Deslie, my sister who discovered the Axon v99 on the 'net. They are not
available in New Zealand so she has sent off to China where they are
manufactured. She says that, at the price, if it turns out to be nothing other
than a little box of useless junk,, little will be lost if it is tossed into
the rubbish or recycling bin!

I recently bought the Trekz Titanium Air which I like, but I am not 100% happy
with how there is a non-adjustable band or whatever you want to call it behind
your head. For me it’s wway to big and if I push it further up my head where
it’s lying against my head then it doesn’t really stay there during walking.

The volume will never be loud enough when walking in noisy traffic.
That is the only downside to having your ears uncovered, which of course, is
also the upside to using bone conduction.
If you need the gps info while in noisy areas, there really isn't a good
solution.
If you just want info while hearing your surroundings they are fine.
I will say as someone who has not been able to where the previous Aftershokz, I
had an opportunity to try the Trex titanium the other day and they are more
comfortable by far.

That's the main thing to realise about bone conduction. You're never going to
get the same richness of sound that you would from earbuds or headphones. The
upside is that you can't really damage your hearing with them since the sound
goes through your skull. They're ideal for reading a book or listening to GPS
instructions while walking so you can still hear your surroundings normally
with your ears. They also don't interfere with hearing aids which is a plus in
my case. One major minus is that I find the microphone in the Trekz Titanium
leaves much to be desired. I would never do a recording with it. You can be
understood by Siri and on phone calls but it's an area where I'd like some
improvement. I don't regret my backing of the Trekz Titaniums when they came
out and will upgrade to whatever the current generation of Aftershokz is when
these ones fail. Aftershokz customer service and warranty has been very good
and they quickly replaced a set which broke without fuss.

I have a pair of Aftershokz Trekz Titaniums, and I love them. They're my go
to headphones now. I find them super comfortable and the sound quality is much
better then the Aftershokz Bluez which they replaced. I can see where volume
might be a problem if you're in a really noisy environment, but I'm able to
crank the volume up enough when I'm in the car and there's quite a bit a road
noise.

Hi,
I’m looking for input from those who have used bone conduction
headphones. I recently ordered my first pair from Mystic Access after hearing
a podcast on them. I had been considering this purchase for a while because my
ears have been feeling sensitive to having earbuds directly in my ears. I
naively thought that there really was something special to how the sound was
conducted, but my experience with these is similar to years ago when I used to
place my over the head padded headphones just in front of my ears and turn up
the volume. I am actually finding that the volume on these is not loud enough
to hear when I’m walking along a traffic filled road. Is my experience
similar to yours? At this point, I’m really not finding them worth the
investment and glad I did not spend more on aftershokz. My ears have just felt
so sensitive to earbuds and I’m concerned about damaging my hearing when I
listened to stuff in noisy areas.
