Alan, Thank you, that definitely gives me something to investigate since it sounds as though you are using a set up that has a lot in common with mine. (Except I'm running Outlook Express on my PC so I'm sure you can appreciate why I want to fiddle around on my main device as little as possible.) However, I had seen IMAP on my server but didn't know what it referred to and have been in the habit of letting a tech deal with all of these issues. I'll get in touch and see if they will support a duel setting.
Not to be fussy, but any chance someone might take a stab at addressing my second question? Why have I not been able to delete the contents of my IPhone in-box after marking the messages?
