I don't have your second question around anymore Joy. What's the
problem? Are you able to double tap edit in your mail app, select the
messages you want to delete and then hit the trash button? If not,
what's happening? If so, is it that the messages aren't being deleted
from the server? If so, there's a setting somewhere on the host or in
the client that says something like delete messages from the server that
I've deleted or moved from this client. Without this setting, messages
will keep being downloaded to your phone until those messages are
downloaded to your PC and removed from the server at that time.

Alan, Thank you, that definitely gives me something to investigate
since it sounds as though you are using a set up that has a lot in
common with mine. (Except I'm running Outlook Express on my PC so I'm
sure you can appreciate why I want to fiddle around on my main device
as little as possible.) However, I had seen IMAP on my server but
didn't know what it referred to and have been in the habit of letting
a tech deal with all of these issues. I'll get in touch and see if
they will support a duel setting.
Not to be fussy, but any chance someone might take a stab at
addressing my second question? Why have I not been able to delete the
contents of my IPhone in-box after marking the messages?
Thanks,
Joy
