I was able to enable description after starting a movie. Have someone hit the menu item within the player, and that will offer the option of changing to English-audio descriptions. Once set, it will remain for anything you watch that has description. It will also carry over to any other devices or interfaces you use. For instance, if I enable it on the computer in Google Chrome, I can then use the iOS app and enjoy the same description without having to do anything.
