I usually use Expedia as well and always found it quite accessible. Whichever
app you use I suggest that you don’t wait until the last minute, download the
app now, sign up and you may even want to add a credit card to make it easier
when you book a place. Quite a lot of hotels you can book without prepaying,
but sometimes you may get a better deal if you pay via the agency whether it’s
Expedia, Booking.com or Hotels.com. You may even want to download all of the
major apps like Expedia, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Kayak or Get A room and play
around with them to see which one you like best, then delete the ones you don’t
like.
Most of these apps offer last-minute deals so Anna’s suggestion to drive and
book 2 or 3 hours before you know where you end up may work out well.
Lastly, if you find a hotel which seems like a good one it doesn’t hurt to call
them, tell them you will be arriving soon and were about to book a room with
Expedia (or whatever app you decide to use) and ask if they can give you a
better rate if you make the reservation directly with them. You may find that
most larger chain hotels like Best Western, Howard Johnson, Sandman and so on
don’t care whether you book directly or via an agency, but if they are smaller
independent places they may offer you a slightly better deal because that way
they save themselves the fee they have to pay to the agent.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Re: Hotel booking app

Hi Joe,

Booking.com<http://Booking.com> is reasonably accessible. I still need help
making sure the hotel or motel is in a convenient place, but I can work with
most of it independently.

Best,
Anna

Good morning,

We are driving from Northern Minnesota to Tucson, Arizona in a couple of weeks.
I’m looking for recommendations on an accessible hotel booking app. I’m totally
blind if that matters. I’m using an iphone8. We are thinking we’ll just try to
find a room when my wife gets tired of driving. This is our first attempt at
the snow bird thing. We already have housing arranged in Tucson but nothing for
the road trip.

Thanks for any help,
Joe
