Dear Joe & List: It is always wise to plan ahead; you want to be sure the Inn has a room for you. Marathon driving is OK for kids, not for people your age. Figure how far you want to drive then look for a good hotel you will reach around 3 PM which is when they start checking-in. Have a shampoo, shower, and relax before supper. Or have a swim in the pool. Or a haircut or massage. Sitting in a car is tiring. If the car needs repairs, you may be able to get the dealer started on the work that afternoon, if they have a night shift, they may be finished by morning. Brian K.
