I think the sound on my Iphone 8 is pretty good. Of course, I'm always using either a bluetooth speaker, headphones, or an earpiece so don't listen to my iPhone on speaker. However, it sounds just fine on speaker when taking a phone call. I'd say I probably get 6 or more hours of use out of my iPhone. I'll really have to check sometime and figure out how much use I get from my iPhone. Screen curtain is usually on my iPhone as well, and screen brightness is always set to 0 as well.
